Seedlings: Ideas for Ministry
God has called us into ministry in our church and community. The ideas below come from our study of Five Practices. Council on Ministries presents these ideas for groups to consider putting into practice.
Stay loose before worship to keep an
eye out for guests. Make
them feel welcome. Introduce them to other worshippers.
Support, strengthen, expand our young adult ministry.
Pray for people who don't attend church.
Encourage
adult classes to hold fellowship events and to invite
beyond their active members.
Offer worship in
alternative places: nursing homes, mobile home
parks, college campuses, etc.
Use children's art for bulletin covers.
Hold 24-hour prayer vigils for focused prayer.
Model, encourage, motivate, and
teach welcoming behaviors
and practices throughout the church.
Offer weekly "Brown Bag" lunch time Bible study near work sites.
Offer monthly or weekly prayer and devotion services for the staff
at a nearby nursing home.
